Rapido introduces the food distribution app offering low cost food in this city

Rapido has launched a new food delivery app ‘itself’ in Bengaluru, which promises food under the rupee. With a zero-commissioned model for 150 restaurants.
Rapido has launched its new food delivery platform, ‘only’ in India, which has noticed to provide cheap food. The app currently operates in select areas of Bengaluru and is available only on Google Play Store.
According to Techcrunch reports, themselves will run on a zero-commissioned model for restaurants, aims to offer food at rates compared to offline outlets. In pricing of platforms, staple items such as rice and eggs Rs. 100, while at least four meals are priced at Rs. 150 or below. Rapido plans to keep about 15 percent lower prices than other major platforms such as Swiggi and Zomato.
Own App: Delivery fees and service coverage
Prior to its public release, the specific Bangalore areas underwent a closed pilot test. The launch follows the discussion between Rapido and the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), which is about the conditions for restaurant onboarding. Under the agreed structure, the partner restaurant will cover the distribution fee for orders within a radius of four kilometers, which will replace the commission-based system in the industry.

Currently, Birerasandra, Tawrekere, Maddiwala (BTM) layout, and Hosur Sarjapura Road (HSR) layout work their own areas. The attempt to reach the service in Delhi and surrounding areas returns a message that states that the location is outside the service sector. The app is not yet available at the Apple App Store.

With this launch, Rapido enters a market dominated by Swiggy and Zomato. While both companies lead the region, previous efforts to compete with other players have seen mixed results. The Coca-Cola-supported thrive, which operated in 80 cities and offered flexible distribution options, shut down its India’s operations due to market challenges in December 2024.
