Railway passengers are being urged not to travel north of Newcastle on Monday as the Storm Floris comes down in the UK.

Avanti West Coast, which stops at Oxenhole, Penrith and Carlisley, said that tickets for Preston’s north visit will be accepted on Monday and Tuesday.
Storm Floris is the sixth designated storm of 2024-25 season, and first after January.
There is also Yellow warning Northern England, Northern Wales and North Ireland across 06:00 BST from midnight on Monday.
