New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear the petition challenging the stay of the Rajasthan High Court on the release of the film Udaipur files: Kanhaiya Lal tailor murder, despite receiving approval from the film’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).The petition was filed by the producer of the film, who contacted the apex court demanding an immediate hearing. Senior advocate Gaurav Bhatia mentioned the matter before the bench on behalf of the filmmaker.Speaking on development, Advocate Pulkit Aggarwal said, “We have said that the High Court’s order, which has stopped on the release of the film, needs to be set aside. We have prayed in the Supreme Court to release the film.”Aggarwal further stated that the court had verbally seen that the case would be listed for hearing within two to three days. The Rajasthan High Court used to stop at the release of the film earlier, based on the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, a case that attracted nationwide resentment. The petitioner says that CBFC certifications have already been given, there are no legal basis to prevent release.
