Sources say a police officer of New York City was shot dead and was injured in a shooting in Midtown Manhattan on another Monday evening.
Law enforcement sources said that at least two civilians were also injured, including one seriously, and the suspect died of a self-affected gun wound.
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tish said, “At this time, the scene has been absorbed and the loan shooter has been neutralized.”
Sources say the shooter went into a 44-mangila building at 345 Park Avenue. Before 6:40 pm, the AR-style weapon took the weapon and went to the 33rd floor and set fire. The officers who were shot were at the time working in security capacity, who were working for Ruden Properties.
The building, which includes the offices for Blackstone, NFL and KPMG, was placed on the lockdown and was being evacuated and the area was blocked, CBS News has learned.
NYPD and Mayor Eric Adams asked the public to escape from around 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.
Jennifer Bisram of CBS News New York described the presence of a huge police at the scene, which included members of the New York State Police and SWAT team. A security guard who said that he works in the building said several shots were removed on the first floor of the building.
