According to BBC US partner CBS News, police sources have identified a 20 -year -old Wes Roll as a suspect in the sniper attack on firefighters in Idaho.
Two firefighters were killed and a third injured on Sunday when a gunman shot him, as he arrived at a blast in Canfield Mountain in the north of Koyur D’Allen.
Officials believe that the roll deliberately lit a fire to woo the respondents in the area.
A police strategic team is later located “a dead man” – close to the shooter – where the attack took place. The authorities have to comment on a purpose so far, or it is revealed how the roll died.
His mother said in a social media post that Roll worked for her father’s tree loping company in 2023 from Arizona in Idaho.
In an update shared in October 2024, his mother wrote that he was “living very well in Idaho.”
Police believe that the role was responsible for the fire. “It was total ambush. These firefighters did not have a chance,” Sheriff Bob Noris said at a new conference.
“We lost a coeur D’Allen fire fighter, and we lost a fire fighter from Kutunai County Fire and Rescue.”
A third “was fighting for his life, but in a stable position”, he said.
The first report of the fire in the Mountainside community was made around 13:21 PST (21:21 BST), after which the firefighters were shot 40 minutes later, Noris said.
Noris said the fire rose to 20 acres first and continued to burn on Sunday night.
More than 300 law enforcement officers, including two helicopters with snipers on board, for shooting from city, county, state and federal officials.
Noris said that the suspect first used a high-power sporting rifle to set a rapid fire to the respondents, in which the authorities initially made the number of criminals involved uncertain.
After an hour -long barrage of bullets, the suspect was found using mobile phone data.
It was not clear whether he had taken his life or was hit by an officer.
