New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for Maldives on Thursday night, wrapped the UK leg of his two-nation tour. He will be on a visit to the island nation from 25-26 July at the invitation of Maldives President Mohammad Muizu. During the visit, PM Modi will attend the 60th Independence Day celebrations of Maldives as a guest of honor, a moment that also marks a 60 -year diplomatic relations between India and Maldives. The Ministry of External Affairs posted on X, “A historic visit to Britain brought India-UK trade and economic relations to new heights.What’s on the agenda? India’s High Commissioner G. Balasubramanian of Maldives underlined deep domestic relations between the two countries, with Maldives a major partner in India’s first policy and described its Mahasagar vision for regional security and development. During the visit, PM Modi will meet President Muizu and will inaugurate many India-supported development projects. Many mouss are also expected to be signed during the journey, which are seen as important in resetting the relationships, which were stressed after the Muizu, who were known for his supporters China, took over in November 2023. Last year, the Indo-Mala joint vision for ‘comprehensive economic and maritime security participation’ has become a guide framework for bilateral relations.Tour of Britain Earlier, during his visit to Britain from 23–24 July, PM Modi met the British Prime Minister Kir Stmper in Checkers, where the two leaders welcomed the signing of the Indo-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which took a comprehensive strategic partnership to a new level. Modi also met King Charles III at Sandringham Estate to discuss bilateral progress.
