Music composer Pete Doharti has started his non-League football as he led Margate FC as captain in a friendly.
The singer and guitarist who sponsors the Margate FC for Libertin on Saturday signed to the club to participate in his match against Tonbridge Angels.
Wearing doharry, number 10 and a brown hat, the same day was played in a nearby Dreamland before a concert to Soundchack in the nearby Dreamland.
Ricky Owen, president of Margate FC, said: “It was fantastic, perhaps either of us had imagined when we started keeping it together.”
Margate, who lost 3–2, welcomed around 600 viewers in the game.
Owen said: “I am not sure we saw the best performance of his football skills, I am not sure that he had long enough for the show what he was on that side, but obviously he was a player in his short days.
“But this was a great way to kick our pre-season, something different for our supporters, a little fun for our first game and it seemed to be really well down.”
Libertin, who became the main shirt sponsor for the club in 2018, also has a hotel in the region.
Owen said: “The response to our social people, the response to the social people of Libertins, talking to the people on the ground, according to the report of our media team, it is actually really obtained positively across the board.”
Asked if the Dosti Isthamian League can play again for the South East Division-Club, Mr. Owen said: “Never say. We will see.”
