North East and Kumbriya investigation
Within hours of illegal fall of the world famous sycamore gap tree, Walter Renavik found himself in a milestrom of allegations and misuse.
Online Amateur Sleiths, who had taken it for examination himself, thought that he had found his man in the former Lumberjack.
He had skills, a chainsaw and a clear purpose, but a defect in principles.
It was not that.
Photographs quickly appeared in a national newspaper, in which the police were removed by Shri Renvik’s North Gatherland’s house and a Chensaw.
“It was a heartbreaking,” said Mr. Rainwick.
“There were police everywhere, drones were flying around the valley, divers in the lake, they were 100% certain that I did it.
“Every time when I used to shop in Haltheistal or Hexham, people were naked each other and saying that ‘he is cutting the tree’, such items.”
Mr. Renvik also wore a disguise to hide his identity.
“I know it was bad, but I put a rod stewart wig, so people did not attend me.”
Months ago, he was evacuated from the plan mill form near Barden Mill, a few miles from the Hadrian Wall in the UK.
His family had been for decades, but his grandfather and father did not go to him.
“I had lost everything, my cow, my sheep, my parents.
Jesuits in Britain stated that he gave “a difficult decision” in 2021 after “many attempts to join him with him”.
He “cited serious violations of his tenancy, in which unauthorized camps on land, farmhouses were repeatedly denied to allow damage and inspection”.
Mr. Renvik admitted that he was running a camp and there was concern about anti -social behavior and somewhere else on his land.
One of the complaints, he accuses, was from the National Trust who owns a neighboring property and land in the Cyamore Gap.
The National Trust said that it would be “inappropriate to discuss the process of our complaints in relation to any person”.
Freelance journalist Kevin Donald was one of those who were deployed to find out and find out who was arrested in the days after the flying.
“It’s a bit hard, but there was a kind of motive,” he said.
“Suddenly everything was pointing to Walter Rainwick which then became a big goal for online trolling.”
Walter Renvik was arrested on 29 September 2023, which was a day after flying, but another man was also taken into custody hours before.
Journalist Mr. Donald said that in the haltvistal, neighbors were seen with “a large police appearance” and a teenager with “shining with blue lights” in a car.
“The locals first looked reluctant to name him. They wanted to protect him,” said Mr. Donald.
The Northumbria police then announced that he had arrested a 16 -year -old boy, which we are not giving names at his request.
But during interrogation, his name and picture were posted on social media.
“The picture showed him with a chainsaw and it was what you called Lumberjack Gear,” said Mr. Donald.
“This suddenly ‘a child could not do this” might do that child “.
People in the boy’s hometown remember the time of speculation of fever.
Ed Korbal, the owner of bed and breakfast, called it “absolute chaos”.
“His family did not know why this was happening and for the 16 -year -old child, the world is eyeing him as if it was so dangerous.”
Scott Donaldson, the owner of the nearby Milkastal Inn, said many people were concerned about the arrest.
“We had family members in the tree surgery business and felt that there was no way at the age of 16,” he said.
“There was a lot of discussion in the pub and we quickly came to the conclusion that the young child was not included.”
However, the trolls did not stop the teenager from sending an online misbehavior about the recent death of a relative.
“You are immediately testing this by social media,” said Mr. Donald.
“It was all at the place when he arrested Walter and his grandson, but it was discovered that they did not even know each other.”
In November, police said the teenager There will be no further actionA month later Same announcement It was built about Mr. Renavik.
By that time, Daniel Graham, 39, and Adam Karutors, both 3, both were arrested from Kumbriya.
We asked the Northumbria police as to what inspired Mr. Rainwick and the teenager’s arrest and why it had taken the force in several weeks to conclude that no more action would be taken against them.
The force said in a statement that it has “recognized the power to feel that Felling has” done “and it carried out a careful and proportional investigation”.
This added the “unwavering commitment” of the people involved in the case, which led to a successful prosecution.
On 9 May, a jury unanimously convicted Graham and Karutors in two cases of criminal damage.
“I just keep asking myself why he did this,” said Mr. Renavik.
“Was it just paying attention? I don’t know what it was, but at least for me, it is over.
“In fact, you know, the tree, this was one thing. But losing my field. This was the thing that hurt the most.”
Jesuits in the UK stated that Mr. Renvik’s father “left” the tenancy in 2008 and Mr. Renwick did not fulfill the legal norms to succeed his father, but was offered a 10 -year lease, which was extended twice, “beyond any legal obligation on our part”.
A spokesperson said that Mr. Rainevic was “fully aware” about the procedure and available options and they were given several opportunities to discuss alternative arrangements.
Charity said, “The whole time we have demanded to work with compassion and integrity,”
