Walking away from a violent suspect at Manchester Airport “was not an option”, a police officer has told the gamblers.
Eli Cook fired his electronic stun gun in Mohammad Fahir Amaz after 20 -year -old and his brother, Muhammad Amad, 26 -year -old Muhammad, allegedly attacked him and his two Greater Manchester Police (GMP) associates.
Standing trials in Liverpool Crown Court in Greater Manchester, both deny the attack and claim that they acted in legitimate self -defense.
“We had a violent person in an international airport who needed to arrest,” Firearms Officer Cook told the gamblers.
The court heard that the police entered the Pay Station area of the car park of Terminal 2 on 23 July 2024, in which a person – was fitting the details of Sri Amaz – had headed a member of the public at a Starbucks Cafe in the arrival area of the airport.
PC Cook, who joined the GMP in July 2018 and was qualified as the authorized Arthya Shiksha Officer in May 2024, told the court: “It was very clear what we were going to do.
“I did not want to give him a chance to use violence against my or his colleagues or any other member of the public.”
He said that when he saw his fellow fire scriptural officer Zachari Marsden holding the left hand of the suspect, he took his right hand with the unarmed PC Lidia ward.
PC Cook said that he tried to punch Mr. Amad to PC Marsden, who in return “tried to strike a strike to Mr. Amad, so that he could try to overcome them – it seemed as if he had missed”.
She said that as she collided with Sri Amad, she was kicked in her leg, punched her head and punched again, her police cap was knocked.
‘Powerful punch’
PC Cook said: “I have never felt like this … It stumbled me a little and stained my vision for a second.”
The court heard that when he regained his vision, he said that he knocked the PC ward on the floor with the same punch.
“I didn’t know what we are doing,” said PC Cook.
“We were in a bad place and I didn’t know what was going to happen next.”
The gamblers heard that he was punched several times and knocked on the floor.
PC Cook said she knew that “physical restraint was not able to take her into custody”.
Paul Greeni KCi prosecuted and asked him: “An option would be just to walk away, willn’t it be?”
He replied: “It was not an option to walk away from such a violent person at that point.
“I joined the police for the safety of the members of the public and if I left, I would not have been doing my work.”
PC Cook said he felt that PC Marsden was in danger of losing his gun, “I didn’t know why he was attacking us, whether he took weapons from us or was it just an attack.”
Finding that she was not strong like Sri Amaz, PC Cook said that she used her taser to give a “effective shot” to the suspect, which is then asked to fall backwards by holding PC Marsden.
The later footage of Mr. Amaz, after the footage, emerged on social media and went viral.
PC Cook said that he saw that his colleagues kicked him, but did not believe that PC Marsden knew that Mr. Amaz was shot with Stun Gun due to “loud atmosphere and whatever was going on”.
He said that he placed his hand on PC Marsden’s body armor and told him that “he is on my tasar, I have found him”.
PC Cook said that he did not see “Stamping Motion” from PC Marsden, who allegedly followed the kick.
After the incident, PC Cook was treated in the hospital for swelling on one side of his head and jaw pain.
The test is going on.
