Patrick Reid made only the fourth double -eagle as the US Open started keeping records a few decades ago, Dunker in his second shot on Thursday at a distance of 286 yards on Para -5 fourth hole in Omont.
The so-called albatros is considered to be the rarest shot in golf, with more than 30,000 hole-in-one made up with only a few hundred one year worldwide.
The reed looked shocked after hitting a fairway wood in green, bounced it three times and then rolled towards the hole. Where the ball went, he raised his palm into the sky, then pointed down, asked if it went inside.
Green applause responded to him.
The 2018 Masters Champions TC Chen (1985 in the Oklaland Hills), Sean Mitchell (in 2010 Pable Beach) and Nick Watni (in the Olympics in 2012) joined the US Open, since the only player to make Albatros at the US Open, since the record was recorded in 1983.
