Pastor Corey Brooks: Merit Not a Focus on Race is the US promise to the US

The one thing I have learned as a pastor on the south side of Chicago is that when you challenge a child, he often thrives. They can be stumbling or wrong here and there and sometimes it takes a day or several months, but when they “get it”, the smile on their face tells you everything. There is nothing more surprising than a child that he is more powerful or smarter than believing it originally. And for the rest of their lives, they carry forward the knowledge that they are stronger than their fear. This is why I believe that the gift of merit is the biggest gift that a child can receive.

It makes me sad that leaders of Chicago and other places do not believe in this simple lesson. They consider more in the race than merit.

I remember decades ago when elite, intellectuals, academics, and politicians gave us lectures that if we had a black mayor and black in major parts of the city and black teachers teaching black children to black children, then blacks will begin to flourish. He told us that it was white domination and white who did not understand the blacks who were catching us back. But magically everything will be black, there will be no other internal town, Jewish settlement, poverty or gang violence. We will flourish black because those blacks in power understood us, they got us.

Does not believe in merit race. Merit is not related to those who use the race as power. The merit belongs to those who earn it.

But, the sad thing is that many of us believe in the race imagination and now we have a black mayor in Chicago, who claims that they have the darkest administration. We also have a black head of the Teachers Association which is so powerful and dominated by the education of our children.

You feel that these black necks are professioned to care about black children so much about black children, they will do something about unsuccessful schools and crimes that kill a lot of children. Still they could take less care. I judge people from their actions and have not got any importance and that is why I have no qualifications about saying that they cannot care less. What is the birth of the south, where there is a lot of government failure.

Imagine having a child on the south and listening to those words. The child will hear so much anger for the white domination bogman and there will be no anger for the unsuccessful schools. These leaders never talk about qualification to these children and they never practice it. He has followed the race as his power and that chase has corrupted him. This is the reason why I fight them from my block every day. I know the power of merit. I know what it does in the child’s mind. And I know how a child who always lives a life of ability – I always repeat, always – there is a chance to get out of poverty and go into a better life.

Merit is the promise that America gives to every one of its children. There is a certain type of evil to deprive these children of their right to birth.
