A paramedic who secretly gave an abortion medicine to a pregnant woman, murdered her unborn child, she has been jailed for 10 years and six months.
Stephen Dohan, who was the leader of a clinical team with the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS), after finding out that the woman was pregnant with her child.
The woman, whose name has not been named, faced an abortion and injected her after crushing the bullets in a syringe as she lay on the bed in 2023 at her Edinburgh’s house.
The 33 -year -old convicted an abortion, sexual harassment and attack in the High Court in Glasgow last month.
While sentencing, Judge Lord Colek said Dowhan had faced his victim’s pain and disadvantage throughout his life.
He imposed a non-upright order for an indefinite period at the age of 33.
Dowhan was suspended by the ambulance service, as after knowing what he did and he is no longer employed by him.
Dohan – Who was married at the time – met the woman in Spain, while she was on leave in 2021.
She did not tell her that she was married and kept in touch.
She came to know that she was pregnant with her child in March 2023 and by this time she was temporarily separated from her wife.
The court heard that a few days after the female pregnancy was known at her home in Edinburgh’s grang area.
She was in bed when she did something that she could not see, but she said that she was not “doubting her actions” at that time.
The court heard how he used the syringe on it and the woman started facing stomach cramps the next day.
The victim fell into a deep sleep
Later in his flat, he gave him diazepam for pain.
The court heard how she ended in a “deep sleep” and woke up to Dowhan to start “starting sexual contact”.
This time she suspected what she was doing but she was also feeling the effects of Diazepam.
When Dowhan pulled out of the room, the woman took a chance to look under the mattress and found a star -shaped pills and a syringe in which the bullets were crushed inside.
After searching online, she found matching images for drugs that could inspire a termination.
Dowhan initially denied that he was “scared” before what he had done.
He said that he had received bullets from a doctor, but he insisted that he would not work because it was a wrong dose.
The court heard how the Dohan and the women had gone to the hospital but they requested that if they were “told the truth”, they would be arrested.
The next day, the woman fell into the shower and had to return to the hospital.
This time he insisted that Dohan did not come to the examination hall.
It was soon revealed that she had abortion.
‘Horrific case’
The court heard that Dowhan bought a female gifts to keep her calm.
But he eventually informed him about the ambulance service, the information was given to the police and Dowhan was arrested.
Prosecutor Scott McKenzie said that the woman was “quite affected” by her ordinance.
Mark Stewart Casey defended that it was “deeply sorry” for what Dowhan had done.
The lawyer said that he had issues at that time that influenced his “decisions and decision making”, although it was not an excuse what happened.
When he was convicted, the ambulance service said: “This is a frightening matter, and our views are with the victim.
“We recognize the courage that he must have been taken to come forward and speak.
“As soon as we came to know about serious allegations and allegations against Dohan, we immediately took action to protect the public and worked with the police Scotland.”
