A library book investigated by 82 years ago was finally returned to a library in San Antonio, Texas by an Oregon resident – with a note: “Grandma will no longer be able to pay for it.”
According to the library, the book by Frances Bruce Strain – “Your child, his family and friend” – was borrowed in July 1943.
“After the death of my father recently, I inherited some boxes of books that he left behind. Through him, I have read the letter from 1943 by Mrs. Frances Bruce Strain ‘your child, your family and friends and friends,” read the letter.
At that time, the sender’s father was 11 years old. Recognizing only as Paag, the author said that his grandmother, Maria del Socoro Aldrate Floors (Cortez) must have checked it.
