New Delhi: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh targeted the opposition in the Lok Sabha on Monday, accusing him of prioritizing wrong questions during the discussion on Operation Sindoor.Responding to questions raised by some opposition MPs about potential Indian casualties, Rajnath Singh said that his inquiry did not reflect the country’s spirit.“Some members of the opposition are asking how many of our aircraft were shot? I think their question does not represent our national sentiments adequately. They have not asked us how many enemies shoot our armed forces?” Singh said in the Lok Sabha. He said, “If they should ask a question, it should be whether India has destroyed terrorist bases, and the answer is, yes … If you have any questions to ask, ask: Is any of our brave soldiers harm this operation? The answer is, no, no soldiers were damaged.”Saying that the opposition was failing in its role in raising meaningful and responsible questions, the Defense Minister said that the success of Operation Sindoor was informed before and again that day and again.“In any country, the public provides different responsibilities to the ruling party and the opposition. Both have their own roles, and both have their own roles for healthy democratic discussions. The ruling party is to work in the interest of the people, while the opposition’s job is to ask the government the necessary questions related to public issues.”Singh called to focus on large national objectives rather than “comparatively minor matters”, Singh warned that unnecessary inquiry could be distracted by national security and armed forces morale.“When our goals are large, we should not focus on relatively small issues. Because by constantly focusing on small issues, attention can be paid to major issues like national security and respect and morale of our soldiers – which is happening in opposition with some of our friends,” he said.
