Beyond the high anticipated GPT-5 AI model launch, the successor of GPT-4, Openai, has launched two new open-weet AI models called GPT -SS120B and GPT -SS-20B. The AI giant claims that these flexible Apache will be available under the license. This essentially allows you to download and customize it yourself, and then eventually drives it as a small laptop on a device. They are available to download using Hugging Face, which means they are freely accessible to developers.
Openai says that these consumer-grade hardware, such as optimized for deployment on laptops, are trained using reinforcement learning and mixture of techniques informed by more advanced models of openaiI.
Openai also claims that the GPT -SS120B model 80 GB is almost equal with O4 mini of OPENAI for the core region benchmark while running on GPU. On the other hand, the GPT -SS-20b GPU provides the same results of O3 mini’s O3 mini on the normal benchmark while walking on edge equipment with just 16 GB memory.

It is worth noting that these models are not multimodals, so they cannot produce objects such as images or videos, they can only generate pure texts.
In addition, Openai states that they are designed to use within agent workflows with equipment such as web search or python code execution, and have logic capabilities, including the ability to adjust logic efforts. Openai says they are also optimized, offering a full range of ideas, and supporting the structured output.

OpenAII CEO Sam Altman called it a “Bada deal”, which took to X to post about the new release. He said that GPT-OS is a state-of-the-art, open weight Reasoning model, with a strong real-world performance compared to O4 mini, and something is something that you can run locally on your computer or phone. Altman also claimed that OpenEE believes it is the best and most usable open model in the world.
