A major success in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing is on the way, and it is coming from Georgia Tech.
Supported by an investment of $ 20 million from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the University is building a supercomputer called Nexus. It is expected that spring is going online in 2026.

Nexus supercomputer AI provides speed and strength
This system is sharp. We are really talking fast. Nexus will hit more than 400 petflops of performance, which means that it can run 400 quadrilian operations every second. In that perspective, it is like giving every person on Earth to solve 50 million mathematics problems at the same time. But speed is not only the headline here. Designers specifically created Nexus for AI workload and research, requiring severe calculated muscles. With this speed behind them, scientific health, energy, robotics, climate and more, can deal with more rapid complex problems than ever.

While most supercomputers focus only on raw performance, Nexus takes a more balanced approach. Georgia Tech is designing it for both strength and ease of use. With the underlying user-friendly interfaces, scientists will not need to be a low-level system specialist to successfully run complex projects.

Out of the box, Nexus will support AI workflow, data science pipelines, simulation and long -running scientific services. This flexibility enables rapid recurrence, smooth collaboration and technical barriers to reduce, which has a real difference in areas such as biology, chemistry, environmental science and engineering.
To support both campus innovation and national impact, Georgia is reserving 10% of the system for the use of take on-campus, while NSF will manage comprehensive national access. This hybrid model ensures that Nexus searches at every level from local laboratories to large -scale research initiatives.
