Two MPs have announced their marriage with a marriage that they said they celebrated their “two different heritage”.
Jeevun Sander and Lewis Jones, both Labor MPs married this month, Sander pops the question When both were at home last year.
Her engagement was revealed by House leader Lucy Powell at the Commons at that time.
Writing on Facebook, Jones, who is an MP for the North East Derbyshire, said she was “happy” to share the news of her marriage.
Jones wrote: “In August, I married my amazing companion, Jeevun Sander!
“We had a beautiful wedding that brought traditions together with our two different heritage, which made it more special because we start the next chapter of our shared future.”
Jones said that she would be doing her last name to “reflect our new family” for Sander-Jones, which she said will soon be reflected in her social media handle.
However, his parliamentary email will remain “for time”.
The couple celebrated their wedding over a week period to fit the celebrations of festive programs from both their cultural traditions.
He first met in January 2023, when Jones were running to become a councilor in Lofborough, where Sanders were also campaigning.
