Saudi Arabia has announced a new grace period for visitors whose travel visa has ended. This step comes as part of a comprehensive effort by the Kingdom to improve compliance with its residence and immigration rules, while also gives visitors a legal way to get out without additional punishment. In a statement posted on X, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawajat) said that from Saturday, July 26, 2025 (1 Safar 1447A), visitors who stay beyond their visa legitimacy will get a 30 -day window to leave the country. This applies to all types of visit visas regardless of the category. The initiative was first introduced in June and now expanded by the General Directorate of Passports (Jawajat), which is overseeing the process. Its purpose is to help individuals to regularize their condition and leave the country without facing increased fine or legal issues. To use this grace period, individuals must follow certain stages, including paying any applied fee and submitting their request online.
Who can benefit?
Any visit visa in Saudi Arabia that has already been expires can apply for the 30-day exhaust grace period. It also includes:
- Family tour visa holder
- Trade travel holders visit
- Multiple-entry or single-entry visit visa
There is no restriction on the visa type, until it is a visit visa and the grace is finished before the onset.
What do you need to do
To take advantage of this grace period, what is necessary here:
- Pay required fees and fine: This includes any penalty for overseas before announcing the ex -gratia period.
- Apply through Absher: Use the digital platform of the interior, Absher Ministry, and use Tavasul service. Depending on your position, submit a request for visa extensions or final exit.
- Work within the 30-day window: The grace period starts from July 26, 2025 and is valid for only 30 days. There will be no extension beyond this period.
Javazat has urged all qualified persons not to use and not delay this time. Ignoring the grace period can lead to more fines, potential exile restrictions, or other legal consequences.
Why does it matter
Saudi Arabia’s move shows a push for better immigration control, but it also provides a practical solution for visitors that may exceed personal or financial reasons. Instead of facing rigorous legal tasks, people now have a clear way to get out of the country in a legal and organized manner. It also helps in reducing congestion in the system, ensuring that the overstars are not stuck or are not forced into desperate options.
