Exclusive: The state auditor of North Carolina said that he is eager to have a positive impact on taxpayers by implementing a state version of the government’s efficiency department (DOGE).
In a special interview with Fox News Digital, the North Carolina State Auditor Dave Bolik said that his office would consider how the state government can be more efficient and use the resources of “best possible ways” for taxpayers. He said that through the House Bill 125, a state-level Dogi has been named after him which recently passes the Legislature.
“It helps our office and state auditor’s office to give more resources so that the taxpayer in Northern Carolina has more resources to take a look at the ability and ways to actually drill a good return on dollar investment.”
“I really support the effort,” he said, in the part. “We have got the team, and we have the ability to really get effective results.”

The bill includes a provision for establishing a division of accountability, value and efficiency for the state auditor, known as the Dave Act. Bill passed the Legislature last week with bilateral support-91-23 votes in the day and 47-2 votes in the Senate.
This remedy is now village. Josh sits on the stein’s desk, and while it is not clear whether he would sign the measure in the law, the ability to override a potential veto is with a Republican majority in both chambers and has sufficient democrats support.
“This will become a law. I am very confident that it will be,” said the dialect.
Boliek reported that his office would take “data-driven approach” to determine the “Best Return on Investment in Taxpayer Dollar”. He also said that his office would be seen in the entire state government to identify where it can be more efficient than focusing on specific major areas.
He said, “I think it would be inappropriate to choose a specific area where we see that cuts are necessary because we have not yet taken that deep dive, but we are going to use modern computer programs, we are going to use AI and we are going to use a lot of data analysis to come up with recommendations of concrete general knowledge,” he said.

The dialect said that the Legislature has asked to investigate the open posts in the state as to why the roles are incomplete and if necessary, what should happen to fill them.
“I don’t think we are limited only to see cuttings. There can be areas where the state is responsible for the service of citizens, and we are not putting in enough resources. The legislature is very clear about giving us a look at those areas, such as we are reducing some things,” said the dialect.
When asked about those areas that the Trump administration focused with Dogi that the dialect could continue at the state level, he said that he wanted to take initiative in a data-operated manner to ensure that his office is supporting his recommendations for cuts or growth with “solid data” and “not just a feeling”.
“A look at the approach should take a look at how taxpayers are spending dollars and ask ‘What is the return on investment?” If we are spending tax dollars on a specific program, the real question is what kind of returns are being received for that amount and I think, will decide on the recommendations.

Boliek said, “Taking a look at how the dollar is appropriated, it is really important” and he indicated the need for “relief-type bills” for storm relief after the devastation left by Hurricane Helen in the state last year.
He said, “It’s one thing to spend money and proper money, it’s another thing for proper money with some average.” “It is really going to be important to be able to be the most efficient. The office of the auditor in Northern Carolina is well located to assist in the monitoring of the measuring dollar here.”

“We want to be able to be relevant for them, and we want to stay there so that these citizens of Northern Carolina know that someone is paying attention and Keep the government accountable From their side, “Bidik said.
