NASA has announced the retirement of Test Pilot and Astronaut Buch Wilmor after four separate spacecraft after 25 successful years of service and flights.
Wilmore, an experienced pilot and a bachelor of US Naval Test Pilot School, has entered the space for 464 days since his selection by NASA in 2000.
The decorated US Navy Captain returned to Earth in 2009 in Space Shuttle Atlantis, Roscosmos Soyuz in 2014, Boeing Starliner in 2024, and recently SpaceX dragon.
He also completed five spacewalks for a total of 32 hours outside the international space station.

“NASA’s Johnson Space Center’s acting Space Center’s acting director Steve Corner said,” Buch’s commitment to NASA and dedication to the discovery of human space is truly exemplary. ” “His permanent heritage of luck will continue to influence and inspire Johnson Workforce, Future Explorers and The Nation for generations. From NASA’s Johnson Space Center, we thank Buch for his service.”
Wilmore is not only technically gifted, but also considered a adaptable astronaut, whose heritage has spread for decades of pursuing human spacecraft in many missions.
He was one of the few astronauts who rode on both NASA’s heritage and commercial vehicles, which helped to validate important systems for long -term human spacecraft.
Astronaut Buch Wilmor said he takes partial responsibility for issues that he and Suna leaves Williams stuck in space for an extended amount, while also say that NASA and Boeing are responsible. (NASA)

,During his career, Buch has imitated the technical excellence of an astronaut requirement. His mastery of complex systems in association with his adaptability and stable commitment to NASA’s mission has inspired us, “said Akaba, head of the Astronaut Office in NASA Johnson.
On June 5, 2024, Wilmor’s most recent launch in Boeing’s Starlineer Spacecraft was marked by the first crew flight test mission. During the mission, they were capable of removing a radio frequency group antenna assembly and helping to collect samples for analysis from the Destiny Laboratory and Quest Airlock.

“From my early days, I have been fascinated by miracles of creation, looking upwards with an unquenchable curiosity. This curiosity inspired me in the sky and eventually in space, where the grandeur of Cosmos saw his producer’s glory in ways,” said Wilmore. “Even when I was beyond the boundaries of the Earth, I remained associated with the beauty and importance of the world below, recognizing the same complex design among the stars is also woven into life dresses at home.”
Wilmore’s retirement indicates the end of NASA’s cross-platform astronaut missions and the leading era of early commercial spaceflight verification.
