Monojit Mishra, the prime accused in a collective-interview of a 24-year-old law student in Kolkata, was further implicated when doctors reportedly found scratch marks on his body.
In the medical examination, the injuries of the nail-infinite were detected, showing that the victim tried to fight back during the attack. The alleged gang-existence took place on 25 June inside a security guard room in the campus of South Calcutta Law College.
The news agency PTI said, “Monojit’s body signs, properly scratch marks. These injuries are fresh. Such injuries occur when someone has to face conflict or resistance,” the news agency PTI stated a well -kept police source as saying.
Earlier, the medical examination of the survivor also confirmed his statement, the doctors found evidence of “powerful penetration, cutting marks and nail scratches” on his body.
Meanwhile, CCTV footage of the campus was also being dragged by the accused inside the college campus.
The police have arrested four persons in connection with the case. First, he placed the prominent accused, Monojit Mishra, and his co-accused, Zab Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, who were students of Law College. Later, college security guard Pinaki Bandyopadhyay was also arrested.
The Nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Kolkata Police, who is currently investigating the case, gave Dr. Vice Principal of Law College in the morning after the crime. Nayana also found proof of Monojat’s conversation with Chatterjee.
The call details of the mobile phone of all the three accused were cross-checked well. The IPS officer said, “We found that after the crime, there was a call from Mono’s number to college VP the next morning. We have questioned VP twice yesterday.”
He said that efforts are underway to find out every detail about telephonic interaction between Monoj and Chatterjee.
In addition, the police have also recovered the CCTV footage of a medical shop, from where an accused, Zab Ahmed bought an inhaler for the survivor.
The survivor had requested her attackers to take her to the hospital when she fell ill during the attack. But when he refused his request, he allegedly urged him to get an inhaler to help him breathe.
“Zaib Ahmed went to the medical store to bring an inhaler. The owner of the pharmacy said that the Zab wanted to pay half in cash and the rest through UPI, which we did not agree. The accused then made full payment online. We have taken a note of his version,” the police officer said.
In her complaint, the 24 -year -old woman mentioned that Zab had brought the inhaler, which made her feel better. However, relief did not last long, as they started torturing him again.
The police officer said that he has made a list of 16 people, mostly students, who were seen in CCTV footage in college after class hours. So far, the investigating officers have questioned six of them. He said, “We are talking to him to find out whether he has seen or heard anything there on 25 June.”
Many pieces of evidence, including digital footprints, medical testing and crime scenes, have all accepted the complaint of the survivor.
On Tuesday, the police demanded 10-day custody of all the accused arrested in Alipore Court.
Kolkata Commissioner of Police Manoj Verma told reporters that investigating officials have collected several evidence regarding the crime. He said, “The matter is quite sensitive and I will not be able to reveal the details. We have arrested the three accused within 12 hours after the FIR was filed. Another person was also arrested later,” he said.
