Two alone musk-supported businesses have officially sued Apple and Openai, accusing them of illegally involved in forces to block the dangers from potential contestants.
The case filed by X and XAI in the US, Appel’s decision to integrate Openai’s chatbot into its smartphone’s operating system, is a special arrangement that this violation competition law says.
The filing works on a threat against two technical giants earlier this month, when he alleged that Apple favor Openai in his app store rankings.
Apple did not respond to an request for immediate comment, while Openai stated that the filing was “in line with the ongoing pattern of Shri Musk’s harassment”.
Musk and Sam Altman of Openai founded Openai together in 2015.
But since then both have become bitter rival, Mr. Musk has accused Mr. Altman of leading Openi that it is far from its establishment in the name of public good.
Their quarrels have intensified as Musk has launched its AI firms, including XAI and Groke, a chatbot option.
In the trial, the federal courts in Texas, Mask’s firms claim that “there is no legitimate business reason for being exclusive for the Apple -openai deal” – arguing that the 2024 system has made it difficult to compete and has given the access to the Apple customers for millions.
It states that the deal gave an edge to the Chatgpt app in the app store, “Increasing its download relative to other generative AI chatbots”.
The two companies said in the trial, “The Apple-Openai system has competed between generated AI chatbots, which is deprived of the scale generative AI chatbots to compete and reduce quality and innovation.” “In all these effects, in turn, Openai and apple helped maintain their monopoly.”
According to the trial, Openai controls about 80% of the generative AI chatboats in the US, while the Apple smartphone claims about 65% of the market.
Its tie-up with other technical giants and app store practices has been the subject of several legal battles including a high-profile monopoly case against Google.
Apple has previously defended his app store practices, saying that they were “fair and free from prejudice”. Many Chatgpt rivals such as Dipsek and Perplexity have topped the App Store Chart at various points since 2024.
The company was recently reported to have a conversation with Google to use the company’s Mithun Chatbot so that it could help give power to its voice assistant, Siri.
