New Delhi: BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan raised a unique but pressure issue in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, which was calling for government regulation of food prices, quantity and quality in eateries across the country.Applying reliable examples of different prices and sizes of samosa in areas, he said, “Somewhere you get a samosa at a rate at a rate, while it is served at a very high price in a five-star hotel. Sometimes it is small, sometimes big-I still do not detect it.”Speaking during zero hours, the Gorakhpur MP said that India sees crores of people who eat daily in roads, small town hotels and metropolitan restaurants as the world’s most populous country. However, there is no uniformity in the price or part of the food.“You get pulses tadka at some outlets for Rs 100, while in others it is Rs 120, and in a hotel it is Rs 1,000. Four people go to eat, but do not know how much they will really get for that price. It operates on a large scale without market regulation,” he said.Ravi Kishan said that while under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, transformational reforms have been introduced in areas, this particular area has not yet received attention. He said, “I urge the government to enact a law that determines the price, quality and quantity of food served in spots, regular hotels, restaurants and five -star hotels so that the public gets fair price,” he said.He further suggested that like the weight of the list of packed foods or the number of pieces, customers should be made mandatory to specify the part of foods on the menu to avoid the confusion of the customer.
