Rijiju revealed that PM Modi told the cabinet that it has been recommended that the Prime Minister be kept out of these bills.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi denied exemption for himself as the government implicated the bills about removing PM, CM and ministers if they were imprisoned for serious crimes.
Rijiju said that PM Modi told the cabinet that it has been recommended that the Prime Minister be kept out of the purview of bills, but he said that he did not agree with the recommendation.
“PM Modi told the cabinet that the recommendation is to keep the Prime Minister out of the bill, but he did not agree. PM Modi refused to give an exception to the Prime Minister. PM is also a citizen, and should not be special protection,” Rijuju told ANI.
He said, “Most of the CMs are from our party. If they do something wrong, they have to leave their position. Ethics should also mean something. The opposition would have welcomed the bill that he had morality at the center …” He said.

Three Bills – Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill and the Government of Center (Amendment) Bill – proposes that a minister, Chief Minister or Prime Minister may lose his post within a month, if he is arrested or detained for more than a prison which is detained for five years or more than a jail.
The bills were introduced by Amit Shah amidst the storms of opposition protests and slogans, in which the draft law was tore and pieces of paper were swept away at the Union Home Minister. Later the bills were introduced after a voice vote and sent to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).
Opposition leaders have called the proposed amendments in the bills as “Drackian” and “Unconstitutional” and alleged that they will be used to target Chief Ministers in opposition states at the behest of central agencies.
