Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Motra on Saturday responded to his leaders Kalyan Banerjee and Madan Mitra to remove themselves on the Kolkata gangrape case.
Taking into the social media platform X, Motra said that “the misunderstanding party in India cuts lines”, saying that the difference was that TMC “these disgusting comments make no difference to condemn making them”.
Moitra shared a post on X by TMC’s official handle, condemning the comments made by MP Banerjee and MLA Mitra. The party said that the comment was made in his personal abilities, and distinguished itself from statements.
TMC said, “These views do not reflect the party’s position in any way,” TMC said, “There was” zero tolerance “for crimes against women in the party.” The post also demanded a “strict possible punishment” for those involved in the crime.
Kolkata Police on Friday arrested three people on the gang rape of a law student inside the campus of South Calcutta Law College located in Kasba area. Among the three accused, two are currently studying in the institution, while a third, prominent accused is Monojit Mishra, an alumnus. The survivor filed an FIR in the case on 26 June, a day after the incident.

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee and MLA Madan Mitra attracted Flack after their remarks on the matter, with pre -inquiries, “What can be done if a friend raped his friend?”
Saying that the accused should be arrested, Banerjee asked whether the police could be in schools. “This was done by the students for another student. Who would protect his (victim)?” He asked reporters on Friday.
Meanwhile, MLA Mitra also instigated the dispute, saying that the crime would not have happened if the woman would not have gone to the scene. “… if someone calls you when the college gives you a situation in the unit, don’t go, nothing will be good,” Mitra said, BJP slammed the leaders’ comments. Amit Malviya, co-integrated from BJP’s West Bengal, said, “This is the victim-dosha, plain and aon.”
