A simple request for a phone recharge in Thane has provoked a Marathi vs non-Marathi line with a Shiv Sena (UBT) MP at the center of the controversy.
The incident took place a few days ago, when a 43 -year -old man, Kiran Tanaji Sawant visited a local shop in Thane, requesting a phone recharge. However, Saurant reportedly lost his temper, as the recharge could not be completed due to a technical issue, according to the staff members of the shop.
He claimed that Sawant created anarchy, causing a fight between him and four or five employees of the shop. During the scuffle, Sawant faced injuries and later filed a police complaint.
A case under the sections of the Indian Joint Code (BNS) was related to injury, and four staff members were detained. He was later released after he was given a legal notice.
SENA (UBT) viral video of MP office
The issue received a new lease of life after a video of Shiv Sena UBT MP Rajan Vichare’s office. In the video, both sides – Staff members and Sawant are present.
While a staff member tries to speak, one of the Vichare’s colleague interrupted him and said, “Marathi Pisces Bol, Marathi killed, didn’t Marathi Pisces speak.”
The clip further approached the staff members – who were sitting – and apologizing by beating their hands and touching their feet. Sawant then goes to slap the staff members, who are also made to catch their ears and admit that they were wrong before the camera.
The incident comes close to each other’s heels on Tuesday (July 1), in which a group of men wearing a Maharashtra Navneman Army (MNS) scarf allegedly attacked the owner of a Thane shop for not speaking in Marathi.
People went to the shop to buy food. After talking to him in Hindi, the owner asked him, “Which language is spoken in the state?” When the owner replied that “all languages”, one of the men shouted and slapped him several times, as well as with others.
