The Bombay High Court on Monday agreed to hold a special hearing on a petition filed against the ongoing agitation under the leadership of activist Manoj Zerann, demanding reservation for the Maratha community.
The High Court has been on leave for the Ganesh Festival since August 27, and is to be resumed on Tuesday.
A special bench of Justice Rabindra Ghungi and Gautam Ankhad, however, agreed to hold a special hearing on a petition filed by Amy Foundation against Kota protests this afternoon.
Since August 29, Jarang has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai, demanding 10 percent quota for Marathas under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
Thousands of people have gathered in the city in support of the crowd, activist at major junctions of business districts.
The petitioner filed a petition against the protest in the High Court last week.
On August 26, the High Court stated that public places cannot be occupied indefinitely, and protests can only be held after the permission of the concerned authorities.
The court also suggested that the government should consider allowing protest in Khargar area of ​​Navi Mumbai.
However, the authorities allowed to protest in the Azad Maidan for one day, which was later extended to another day.
On Sunday, the worker claimed that he would not leave Mumbai until his demands are met.
On Monday, the petitioner transferred an application demanding an immediate hearing of the petition, which led to the concern about the inconvenience caused to the people due to the ongoing protest.
