One person has died in a shooting in North-East London.
The 45 -year -old man was declared dead on the spot on Dinavar Road in Stoke Newington on around 00:20 BST on Tuesday. The region has been closed and parts of Stoke Newington High Street have been closed.
The Metropolitan police said that the victim’s family has been informed and is being supported by expert officials. No arrests have been made.
DET CH SUPT BRITTANY CLARKE said: “We understand that the incident will create concern within the Stoke Newington community, although we believe that this is an isolated event at this level of investigation, in which there is no comprehensive risk to the general public.”
He said: “Our team of detectives and forensic experts is working at a pace to establish the entire circumstances, which led to the sad death of this man.
“Residents may expect to see an increased police appearance in the area with a crime site, as we make our inquiry. We thank them for their patience and cooperation at this time.”
The Metropolitan police said that formal identity and post -mortem examination will be in “fixed time”.
