A 76 -year -old man is facing allegations of child cruelty in court after children fell ill at a summer camp in Lecesterreshire.
John Ruben was arrested as a part of a Lecesterresires police investigation, as an adult was rushed to the hospital on Monday at the camp in Stathorn, Stathry. All have been discharged since then.
Between 25 July and July 29, Mr. Ruben of the Wet Court of Landmere Lane has been accused with three cases of Willful Il Treatment of a child belonging to three boys, with three cases of willful Il treatment.
The defendant wearing a gray tracksuit did not indicate the allegations during a small hearing in the Lecester Magistrate Court on Saturday.
He was sent to custody and will appear in the Lecester Crown Court on 29 August.
The Lecesterreshare police said it first received a report that the children had become unwell on Sunday at a summer camp on the site.
Eight children – who were all boys between the ages of eight to 11 – and an adult was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police Watchdog, Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said it was investigating the incident to deal with the force.
