A person has been accused of death of a scientist after being found seriously injured on Dundi Street.
Dr. Fortune Gomo, 39, originally from Zimbabwe, was declared dead in the scene of the incident, which took place on South Road at around 16:25 pm on Saturday.
The 20 -year -old suspect is expected to appear before the Dundi Sheriff Court on Monday.
Dr. Gomo, who worked for Scottish water, lived in the city and graduated from Dundi University.
Professor Nigel Seatan, Interim Principal and Vice Chancellor, said that the university was “surprised” by the death of former research assistant.
The officer -in -charge of the investigation, Dit Sept Peter Sharp said: “First, my views remain with the family of Fortune at this incredibly tragic time.
“They are being supported by expert officers and I would ask that their privacy is respected.”
He said that inquiry was going on and said that the incident is “there is no comprehensive risk to the public”.
The senior official said that his team was following the investigation of several lines.
DET SUPT SHARP added: “I also fully know about the content on social media and urge the public not to speculate about the circumstances of the incident.
“The public will notice a visually impaired police attendance and I will encourage anyone who has any concern to talk with our officials.”

Professor Seatan said that Dr. Gomo was a PhD student and then by February 2022, there was a postdotoral research assistant in Geography at Dundi University.
Dr. Gomo recently joined the Water Resources Scheme in Scottish Water as a senior service planner and was “rich in his career”.
Professor Seatan said: “His death after an alleged attack in South Road, Dundi on Saturday afternoon is a really shocking incident in our city and our university community.
“It would be especially upset for those who knew and worked with luck during their time at the university, and for all people of African colleagues and students close to students.
“Our views are with his family, friends and colleagues at this sad time.”
He said that Dr. Students affected by Gomo’s death may find “support and consolation” at the university’s Chaplinsy Center, which will open on Monday.
