Mamdani denies communism label despite call to ‘seize means of production’

Democratic New York City Mayor candidate and self-destroyed socialist Zoharan Mamdani is facing criticism on comments made in a young Democratic Socialist of America, where he urged the attendees not to compromise on goals such as “seizing means of production”.

During the appearance – which was part of the 2021 ydsa Winter Conference – Mamdani, who was then elected to the New York State Assembly, said many socialist principles live outside political mainstreams.

“Right now, if we are talking about cancellation of student loans, if we are talking about Medicare for all, you know, these are issues that are the basis of popular support in this country,” Mamdani says in a video in a video in a video. “But then there are other issues that we strongly believe, whether it is BDS or whether it is the ultimate goal of seizing the means of production, where we do not have the same level support in this moment.”

In response to Trump’s criticism of being a “communist”, Mammadani directly denied NBC News’s claim.
