French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Briguit have filed a defamation suit against right -wing affected Candes Owens, claiming that France’s first female man was born.
The legal action filed in the US state of Delaware on Wednesday stated that Owens is “spreading the stories from Outlandish, defamation and far and wide”.
Owens regularly reiterated claims on its popular podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her “full professional reputation” at her belief that Mrs. Macron is actually a man “.
In an episode of his podcast on Wednesday, Owens stood by his allegations and said of the trial: “It’s just foolish.”
Owens taunted the French First Lady and sued him as a “clear, desperate public relations strategy”.
A conspiracy theory that has been aired in the fringe online space for years, alleging that Mrs. Macron was born as a man named Jean-Michel Trognex, who belongs to her brother.
Owens has spread the principle of conspiracy to its audience, including about 7 meters followers on X. Earlier this year, he released a video series called Viting Briguits.
Macron said in a statement issued by his lawyers that he had repeatedly asked Owens for a comeback, but “eventually concluded that referring the case to the court was the only remaining Avenue for measures”.
The statement said that Ms. Owens’ defamation campaign was clearly designed to harass and our families and our families were designed for meditation and notorious.
“We gave him every chance to back down from these claims, but he refused.”
The trial alleges that Owens “disregarded all reliable evidences, dismissing his claim in favor of known conspiracy theorists and perfect defense”.
It also accuses Owens of making false accusations on the French President and his wife is a blood relative and Emmanuel Macron was installed in the office by a secret CIA plot.
Owens worked for conservative organizations including student group turning points and media outlet Daily Wire before launching its independent podcast in 2024.
He has since spreading rumors or suggested that conspiracies lie behind things like covid vaccines, holocaust and moon landing.
The lawsuit is also the name of companies with his delaware-facilities and asks for unspecified damage.
Under the American law, Macron would have to prove “real malicious” – which means that the defendant knew that the information was false, but it was published or broadcast anyway.
In September, a French court found two women guilty of complaints for spreading false claims about Brigit Macron, however, according to local media, the decision was overturned at the appeal earlier this month.
Owens is married to George Kisan, a British-American entrepreneur and son of Baron Michael Farmer, House of Lords Peer and Treasurer of former Conservative Party, who have removed themselves from some of their daughter-in-law’s views.
