A turning lorry forced the M6 motorway to shut down when it dropped diesel across the road in Staffordshire.
The accident immediately after 22:00 BST on Friday affected the North-East Carizway for the A500 for Stoke-on-Truce for A34 Stafford North and Junction 15 for the A500.
Staffordshire police said HVG killed near and central obstacles before eliminating and spreading fuel.
Officials confirmed that there were no injuries and the National Highway (NH) said that after noon -time three and four had reopened with a low speed limit, but that the motorway would be closed later.
Carizway was stated to be a heavy delay of 90 minutes in the area immediately after partially reopening.
NH confirmed that the lorry had now been recovered, but the lanes would remain out of use until the re -implemented overnight, so that the resurrection work can be enabled.
Due to the effect of diesel spill, four south side will also remain closed.
Dell Hipcis from NH said that the top layer of the road surface was planned as there was widespread damage from the spread fuel.
“We can then make a complete repair overnight when the traffic is lighter, which causes less disruption to the road users,” he said.
