It has been more than two decades because the body-swap comedy has captured the complications of mother-daughter relationships which have become a global hit.
Now Freakier On Friday, Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan saw the reunion in a sequel, which examines the same subjects from a very different phase in life.
The character of the film Lohan rises with Anna, has a daughter of her own and deal with the challenges of taking a step daughter. The dynamic of the family is a quadruple body-swapping.
At the European premiere for the film at Lessestle Square, London, Lindsay Lohan told the BBC that every part of him wanted to make the sequel to the 2003 hit.
“Fans like the film and have such a strong loyalty,” she explains. “This made people very happy and I like making films that make people feel happy.
“Now there is so much going on in the word that it is good to make something that can forget people what is going on.”
Getty imagesThe film consolidates Lohan’s return to Hollywood – she was absent for most of the 2010 time and made her comeback on the big screen in 2022 with a fall for Christmas.
This is her first film with Disney in more than a decade, but perhaps it is not last because she says that if fans love Freakier on Friday, they can have the strange expectation of sequel.
Star, who was up for fame in the mother -father’s trap, tells me that she was not afraid to return to acting because she loves what she does “and I know always looks in my work”.
She says that her return to acting was about finding the right time, and the 39 -year -old was busy in a few years to marry Finance bed Shamas in 2022 and gave birth to a son a year later.
She says that as a parent, she has been given a new approach to the mother-child relationship in the film and has helped them to further relate them.
“When you become a mother, your whole life changes and it is important to balance the work and be able to be a mam that is definitely a learning process.”
Lohan has been in public eyes for almost three decades and had a turbulent time in the 20s – he was arrested several times for various crimes and spent time in rehabilitation on various occasions.
She tells the BBC that by turning back, she will not tell her little self in a hurry and “just slow and breathe because it is all coming”.
Getty imagesCurtis, who re -reveals her role as Lohan’s mother in the film, told me that Friday’s sequel on Friday did not feel like a reunion with Lohan because “we have always been united”.
“I take my job seriously and when I am a mother or older for a young actor, I take a lot of responsibility to ensure that she can always rely on my friendship and love,” she says.
“We have united everyone for his twenty -two conditions away from his adolescence and recently he bought his child to meet me in LA.”
The actor, who won the Oscar for everything in 2023 for everything everywhere superhero comedy, says that the topics of the film’s understanding and sympathy are still very important.
“Understanding is still in low supply in the world and the film shows that if you can experience each other’s life, you probably will get some common base with each other.”
Along with being fun and foolish, Curtis says that the film touches the subject of loss that “creates sympathy because it is a universal feeling”.
The 66 -year -old said that it was his idea to make a sequel and recently approached Disney that the time had come to make it. He had to wait for two decades because “we needed Lindsay to be a 15 -year -old child in the film.”
Chad Michael Murray played her role, as notes Hartthrobe Jake and newcomer Julia Butter played Lohan’s on-screen daughter.
More broadly, Freakier is part of the trend of the sequel being announced and released on Friday.
Last week, it was released a follow -up to bend like Beckham and there is a lot of expectation for Devil Viers Prada sequel.
