A couple say that an electric strike is hitting their house “looked like a bomb”.
Emma and Tim Brainon woke up by noise at about 02.30 BST on Thursday, when a storm passed at their Glostershair’s house.
The strike pierced several roof beams and knocked the electrix of the house, but did not start the fire. The dramatic incident was caught on the bell of the neighbor’s door.
Mr. Brainon jokingly said: “We can stand here today and the house is not here, so I am definitely buying a lottery ticket tonight.”
Mrs. Brainon said that the couple did not initially know when the noise woke them up at their home near Apon St. Leonards.
“We used to have a look out and were about to go back to the bed, but when we went to put the fan and realized that we had no electricity, we thought we thought we take a look around the house.
“We realized that the door bell flew from the cam wall and had a burning smell,” he said.
When the couple opened their scaffolding hatch, they were congratulated by an hail of the splitors from the roof beam, the point they decided that they needed to call the fire service.
“They were early as a flash here,” said Mr. Brainon.
He said that one of the firefighters told him that he had never seen that the wooden beams were so damaged and still not catching Elle.
“He said that we were very lucky and it could be very bad,” Mr. Brainon said.
He thanked the fire service, “They were really completely and ensured that everything was safe before he left.”
The couple are still without some of their electrines, and are inspecting their roof on Wednesday.
