Amid heavy rains in Mumbai, Central Railway on Tuesday suspended local train services on the port line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Kurla stations, which caused by track submergence.
Services on the main line between Kurla and Sion were also stopped as there were waterfalls after the track downpore.
A senior Central Railway official told PTI that the port line services were suspended between CSMT and Kurla from 11:20 pm, as about 12 inches of water was submerged due to inflammation of the nearby Mithi river.
Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Division of Central Railway, Hiren Meena said, “Due to heavy rains and #waterlogging at the election station in Mumbai, train services on the Harbor line between CLA and CSMT have been suspended until the next notice.”
Earlier, Meena urged the people that if necessary, only given the huge decline in the city.
Suburban train services, including the people of Western Railway, experienced the delay since morning due to the accumulation of water on the tracks at many places after continuous rains.

On Tuesday, torrential rains instigated Mumbai, submerged several low-fold areas, slow down road traffic and local train services, and disrupted normal lives in the city and its neighboring areas.
The Mumbai Police urged the residents to only be necessary and request private offices to allow employees to work from home.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that in the last 24 hours, many areas of Mumbai received more than 200 mm of rainfall, in the eastern suburbs, Vikoli made the highest recordings in 255.5 mm.
The IMD has also issued a red warning, which on Tuesday estimates extremely heavy rains at different places in Mumbai and nearby districts.
The city’s civil authority announced that the government and the semi-government offices would remain closed on Tuesday and urged private establishments to allow employees to work from home and avoid non-essential travel.
The Directorate of Higher Education announced a holiday for all senior colleges in the Konkan region, covering Palaghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhurghurg.
After Monday’s heavy decline, the residents of Mumbai faced continuous rains on Tuesday, in which the submerged and traffic movements of the roads were severely affected since morning. Local train services experienced delays, and flying roads were diverted to Bhanambhi Electric Supply and Transport (Best) buses at several places.
Several city areas including Borivali, Andheri, Sion, Dadar and Chamber recorded intense rainfall overnight, which remained in the morning, causing widespread waterfalls in low-fold areas like Gandhi Bazaar.
