A 47 -year -old man took his life in a forest in this district that he was upset that he could not arrange for his son’s engineering college entry, the police said here on Monday.
A person identified as VT Shijo was found hanging in the Moongampara forest on Sunday evening.
His son had secured a place in an engineering college in Tamil Nadu, but the family was unable to pay the required fee.
Relatives said Shijo was facing serious financial difficulties. He was expecting a 12 -year salary arrears due to his wife, a aided school teacher, which was confirmed by the court earlier this year.
He started receiving his salary from February this year, but was allegedly delayed by DEO officials in cleaning the outstanding amount for the last 12 years. Police believe that the family’s financial conflict and inability to fund college entry gave birth to a tragedy.
He said that his body has been handed over to relatives after the post -mortem examination.
