Principal Private Secretary Nin Pandit played the Prime Minister’s team in 10 and is in role for only ten months.
He is the third senior staff member who has been appointed by the Prime Minister and later let go, later Chief of Staff Suu Gray left in October And Director of Communications Matthew Doyle stood below in March,
The appointment of Ms. Pandit was announced in the same press release by No 10, which marked the departure of Ms. Gray.
The BBC understands that the Prime Minister was worried that Ms. Pandit was ineffective in the role, although there are no 10 competitions and the Prime Minister’s colleagues said that he maintained confidence and faith in him.
It is expected that the Pandit will move forward for another role in the government.
No 10 said that Ms. Pandit remained in the post, but would not comment on whether her departure was imminent. The BBC has approached Ms. Pandit for comment.
Private Secretary (PPS) of the Prime Minister is one of the most prized jobs in the Civil Services and is often a precursor to run major government departments or service.
According to a former internal source, he works for the official government machine as the gatekeeper of the Prime Minister and “runs his life”.
They control the information flow to the Prime Minister, shape their diary and often have the last person in the room when big decisions are made.
The PPS usually sits in 10 in 10 with the head of employees outside the Prime Minister’s Office.
Before becoming PPS, Ms. Pandit ran the No 10 Policy Unit during the premiere of Rishi Sunak. Earlier in her career, she was the Chief of Staff of NHS England Chief Executive Officer.
