New Delhi: In the midst of a clear quarrel with his own party MP Mahua Motra, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee on Tuesday posted an old video in Parliament and asked for “apology”. Kalyan Banerjee posted a video on X, saying, “In 2023, I was standing by Ms. Moitra when she was set on fire in Parliament – I firmly fired, not compulsion. Today, she pays me a misunderstanding and pays that support,” Kalyan Banerjee said while posting the video on X. The TMC MP further said, “I apologize to the nation to defend someone who clearly lacks basic gratitude. Let people see their words what they are and do justice accordingly.”This comes when Kalyan Banerjee resigned in the Lok Sabha as the party’s chief whip on Monday, alleging that he was being convicted wrongly for lack of coordination among MPs, even some barely some participate in Parliament.The step came a few hours after a virtual meeting of TMC MPs headed by party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, where he allegedly expressed displeasure over poor coordination in the party’s parliamentary wing.Just before his resignation, Kalyan Banerjee, in a long post on X, accused Motra of abusing him and disregarding a deep dedication for the basic norms of the civil discourse.He said, “I have noticed the recent personal comments made by Ms. Mahua Motra in a public podcast.
