MasterShef presenter John Torod has stated that he is subject to the allegation of using the racist language, retaining as part of the investigation of separate allegations against co-scientist Greg Wallace.
In an Instagram post on Monday, the TV presenter said that the allegation was that he had commented in 2018 or 2019 and immediately apologized.
However, the TV chef said that he had “no remembrance”, saying: “I don’t believe it happened.”
It comes after an investigation ordered by MasterShef’s production company Banijay that 45 allegations about Wallace’s behavior on MasterShef were upheld.
His statement said: “After the publication of the executive summary of the investigation into Greg Wallace while working on MasterShef, I am speculated that I am one of the two other persons against whom one has been accused.
“For transparency, I confirm that I am the person who is accused of using racial language on an occasion. The allegation is that I did some time in a social status in 2018 or 2019, and the person I was speaking with did not believe that it was a malicious manner intended and later I apologize.
“I have no memory of any of them, and I do not believe that this has happened. However, I want to clarify that I always think that any racial language is completely unacceptable in any environment. I am surprised and saddened by the charge because I will never wish anyone to commit crime.”
