Suspected Jean Charles de Menezes of the wrong terrorist’s family has said that this is a “trays”, who is not accountable for his death 20 years after shooting.
Dozens of people joined their relatives for a vigilance outside the Stockwell Tube station in South London, where the 27 -year -old was killed by the police after bombing on the London Transport Network.
It came two weeks after 7/7 terrorist attacks, killing 52 people in Central London in 2005.
No officer was prosecuted for the murder of Mr. D. Menez, but was fined Met to dissolve health and safety laws. In April, the force reiterated his family’s apology.
In the monument outside the station, a one -minute silence was held, a prayer was read in both Portuguese and English, and was played in honor of the traditional South American music Brazil.
Family members and supporters wore a black T-shirt that reads: “20 years: Justice refusal. Justice 4 Jane.”
Relatives say that the anniversary calls a fresh call for truths and accountability for those responsible for their death.
Petricia da Silva Armani, cousin of Mr. D. Menezes, said: “He was a completely innocent person. And still, he was shot in cold blood.
“To make things worse, the lies were spread to justify unfair.
“For our family, the grief of that loss and the injustice around it is still with us, every day.
“Nothing can erase the pain of knowing that the life of a hardworking, kind and honest young man was taken out of us from prejudice and disability.
“To date, no police officer has been held accountable to Jean’s death. It is a traces.”
Mr. D. Menezes was shot seven times in the head when the police accidentally identified him as one of the suspects for the unsuccessful bomb blasts.
The transport network was targeted by suicidal attackers on 21 July, but their equipment failed to explode.
Ms. da Silva Armani said that it was “unacceptable that the state agents could act with impurities”.
“Jean’s memory demands more than words – it demands truth, accountability and real change. We will not forget. We will not be silent.”
In 2017, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cresida Dick led the operation in which Mr. D. Menezes died.
Yasmin Khan, a lawyer working on behalf of campaigners, said: “Twenty years ago, Jean Charles de Menezes stepped into a train here at Stockwell Station and never came home.
“We remember him today, because the system that killed him never had to face justice, and not a single police officer was ever held accountable.”
In April, the family of Mr. D. Menezes Told BBC They will continue to fight for him and “show the truth to the world”.
Speaking before releasing a Disney+ four-part UK TV drama, his mother Maria de Menez said that he wanted the real story to have false preliminary reports to the actual story that he jumped the obstacles and killed the police.
He was wrong for one of the suspects as he was associated with the same block of flats.
Last November, anonymous markman Told Channel 4 If he did not act, he was sure “We were going to die”.
