Jammu/Srinagar: In J&K Kishtar district, several victims of Thursday’s flash flood were having lunch at a pilgrim camp, when a cloudbukes hit the area between the afternoon and 1 o’clock, causing a rapid filling of a swatter of the valley to fill the swamp rapidly. The camp set up for pilgrims took the brunt of the loss, leaving the mud -filled gorge, where the anchor was standing. Fludweightrs washed several other structures, including a safety post. Dozens of vehicles were damaged.An official said, “Two CISF personnel were among the victims. Many pilgrims who died were eating in the anchor, when the disaster occurred,” an official said.The Chishoti is about 90 km from the installment and the last stop before the pilgrims trek from the 8.5 km ancient Machel Mata pilgrimage site. The 43-day Sri Machal Mata Yatra, which began on 25 July and was to continue till 5 September, has been suspended.In Paddar, the closest city of the disaster sector, Leader of the Opposition Sunil Sharma told reporters that 100-odd people were missing. He said, “There are mud -ripened bodies and seriously injured people. The toll of death may increase,” he said.CM Omar Abdullah wrote on X, “I only told Union Home Minister @AmitShah about the developing situation in Kishtwar area of Jammu,” CM Omar Abdullah wrote on X, also announced to cancel his scheduled. ,PM Narendra Modi wrote on X, “My views and prayers are with all those affected by the floods in Cloudbers and installment, Jammu and Kashmir. The situation is being closely monitored. Defense and relief operations are going on. All possible assistance will be provided to those who will be given to the needy people.” IGP (Jammu Zone) Bhimsen Tutti said that the administration had done the “active” control room and helped the desk in the installment to provide updates about the rescue efforts.
