New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit to Japan, starting on Friday, will confirm commitment to the peace, prosperity and stability of two countries, which Indo-Pacific and beyond, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Tuesday. He said, “This will strengthen our friendship and open the fresh path for cooperation.”Exposing the importance of the journey, Misri said that India and Japan shared “Trust” and a “strategic approach”, making the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit important.During the first phase of his visit from 29-30 August, Modi will attend the 15th India-Japan annual summit. This will be his eighth visit to Japan and his first summit with Prime Minister Ishiba. The two leaders are expected to review special strategic and global partnership, which discusses defense and safety, trade and economy, technology and innovation and people covering people’s exchange. They will also adopt regional and global issues, confirming the long -standing friendship between the two countries.
Modi to attend SCO summit in Tianjin, China
From Japan, the Prime Minister will visit the Chinese city of Tianjin from August 31 to September 1 to attend the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Secretary (West) Tanmaya Lal in the Ministry of External Affairs said that Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings on the banks of the summit.China has described this year’s gathering as the largest in the history of the block, in which it is expected to participate with 20 world leaders including Modi. India, which became a member of the SCO in 2017, chaired the council of the heads of the state during 2022-23.Earlier this week, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi formally invited Modi for the summit on behalf of President Xi, which the Prime Minister accepted, underlined the importance of the meeting for regional cooperation and dialogue.
