Former Supreme Court Judge B. Sudarson Reddy, 79, who underlined the Salwa Judam Milsia in Chhattisgarh, was nominated for the 2011 Landmark decision on Tuesday, September 9 as a candidate for the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (India) for the Presidential Election on 9 September.
A bench of Justice Reddy and SS Nijar dissolved Salwa Judam, leading to “immoral and dangerous” and Article 14 (right to equality) of the Constitution and violating Article 21 (right to life). Salwa Judam, who was accused of violation of human rights, was a state-proposed militia raised in 2005 to combat the Maoist rebellion. It consisted of large -scale tribal youth who were equipped with basic training and firearms.
Congress President Mallikrajun Kharge, who announced the candidature of Justice (Rit) Reddy, said the opposition parties decided a general candidate, and the decision has been unanimously taken. He called candidature a major achievement for democracy.
Justice (Rit) Reddy wrote the book “Preamble to the Constitution”. He has highlighted the response of Bhimrao Ambedkar, who presided over the committee drafting the Constitution, which was given to right -wing groups, who criticized it for borrowing ideas. He said that Ambedkar said that there was no shame in this and it is intelligent to adopt good thoughts, no matter what they are.
Justice (Rated) Reddy has questioned critics on the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru’s contribution, asking if he also understands the depth of his knowledge in his seminal work “The Discovery of India”, searching for the Upanishads, Himalayas, Ganga, Aryan and Mohanjo. He challenged those who pretend to be learned by blaming Nehru wrongly.
Former Central Information Commissioner Madbhushi Sridhar Acharyulu said that the Justice (retired) was deeply committed as a judge for the rule of the Reddy Act. He said that he dedicated his life to maintain constitutional values in the democratic structure. He said, “Some judges have dug up their names in history through their unwavering integrity, specific vision and belief in democratic principles. Justice (retired) B Sudarshan Reddy is one of them,” he said.
Justice (retired) Reddy, who was due to filing his nomination on August 21, was born on 8 July 1946 in an agricultural family in Ranga Reddy, Telangana. He graduated in law from Osmania University in Hyderabad in 1971 and started practicing in Hyderabad Civil Court. Justice (RTD) Reddy was nominated by the Government Petitioner in the Andhra Pradesh High Court in August 1988 and argued in the matters of the revenue department. He continued in the post till January 1990.
He was appointed as an additional permanent lawyer for the central government and was elected as the chairman of the Advocates of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1993. In May 1995, he was upgraded as an additional High Court judge, appointed as the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court in December 2005. He was extended as a judge of a Supreme Court in January 2007. Posted on a personal basis in October 2013.
