New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan on Saturday fought India’s details as the “dead economy” of US President Donald Trump, saying that the latest GDP data showed that “India is a long live economy” on the way to develop and become self -sufficient. According to the government data released on Friday, the country’s economy increased by 7.8 percent in April -zoon, the highest among the five quarters, before the US tariff. The increase in the first quarter of the current financial year was mainly supported by the agricultural sector. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan said, “Those who call it a ‘dead economy’ should now understand that India is a ‘long living economy’, which is to realize the dream of a developed and completely self -sufficient India.” He added to a post on X, “Indian farmers’ sweat, hard work of our scientists and 140 crore Indians have demonstrated their abilities.” Chauhan also said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving forward to achieve the goal of a developed nation.The BJP also hit Rahul Gandhi to support Trump’s remarks of the dead economy, saying that the latest figures showing India’s economy in April -jun increased by 7.8 percent -the “is the most difficult slap of reality” for the Congress leader. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said, “For ASerbic, confusion, despair, and Rahul Gandhi dismissed – the same man who declared India a ‘dead economy’ – the latest GDP number is the most difficult slap of reality.” He said, “India has seen 7.8 percent GDP growth in FY 2025-26 Q1, leading the world’s major economies.” He also said, “Only ‘dead’ is Rahul Gandhi’s credibility.” In another post on X, Malavia said that India is not only growing, but is also proving “Doomiresirs wrong, quarter after the quarter”. He said, “Like ‘India is a Dead Economy’, Purviers are now hitting his face to hide his face.” Referring to US President Donald Trump’s criticism of the Indian economy, Rahul Gandhi recently said that everyone except Prime Minister Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman knew that the country’s economy was “dead”. As the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, he also said that the BJP -led government had destroyed India’s economic, defense and foreign policies, and ran the country “on the ground”. His comment last month called India a “dead economy”, and announced a 25 percent tariff on imports from India, with an unspecified “fine” for the purchase of Russian military equipment and crude oil.
