Texas village. Greg Abbott has expanded the current special session agenda to involve the law that will punish MPs who deliberately leave the state to block legislative action.
Follows this step Dramatic walkout by House Democrat earlier this month. They fled from Texas to protest against a GOP-supported redistribution plan, effectively denied the chamber.
Abbott said in a statement, “We need to ensure that evil legalists cannot flee from the state and kidnap Texas’s important business during a legislative session.”
House pass controversial redistribution bill
On Wednesday, with the already absent Democrats in the Chamber, Texas House reached a quorum and House Bill 4 gave final approval -A controversial Republican-supported measures to rebuild the Congress map of the state and potentially to create five new GOP-shocking districts.
The bill is now expected to be passed in the Texas Senate and signing the law by the Governor.
Two more items added to the agenda
In addition to the law calling for punishment for state-stroke MPs, Abbott added two additional items to the agenda, including the law:
- Allow the purchase of ivermectin in a pharmacy. Ivermectin is a drug that kills the parasite by disrupting their nerve and muscle function. It was originally developed for animals in the 1970s and was later approved for human use in the 1980s.
“Texus must increase access to the benefits of the euremctin,” Abbott said.
- Direct the Texas Water Development Board to conduct the groundwater study of Eastern Texas Aquifers before some permits are released or amended.
“Finally, we need to ensure that proper studies have been done to protect the health of Eastern Texas Aquifers,” Abbott said.
