About 1,200 children are being urged that they are urged to undergo tests for infectious diseases after a Melbourne Childcare worker was charged with a string of crimes including child rape.
Joshua Dell Brown was arrested in May and 70 allegations were faced, police alleged that she abused eight children – including five -month -old children – between April 2022 and January 2023.
The 26-year-old has worked at 20 childcare centers since 2017, motivating local health authorities to inform the parents of any child, who could be in their care, many people have been recommended to test as “precautions”.
Brown, who is not yet entering a petition on the allegations, has been sent to custody and is scheduled to appear in the Melbourne Magistrate Court in September.
Eight children – at the age of five, under the age of all – whose allegations were damaged, participated in the Creative Garden Early Learning Center in Point Cook in South West, Melbourne.
Brown is accused of producing and transmitting child rape and sexual harassment offenses as well as child abuse materials.
Detectives are also investigating alleged crimes by Brown at a childcare center in Essendon “as a priority”.
At a press conference, officials said they had a valid work with children’s investigation and when they were arrested, they were appointed as a childcare worker.
Brown did not know before the investigation, he said, saying, saying that he was confident that he had worked alone and allegedly happened only in Victoria.
The revelation of Mr. Brown’s identity was an “unusual decision”, Janet Stevenson of Victoria Police said, but it is a “unique” case.
“It is very important to ensure that every parent’s child out of there is a child in childcare, knows who he is and where he works,” he said.
Chief Health Officer Christian McGrath would not say if Mr. Brown conducted a positive test for sexually transmitted infections, but said that allegedly derogatory ways means that some children may be asked to undergo screening for infectious diseases.
Around 2,600 families were approached, recommended for testing 1,200 children, saying that children could be combined with infections that could be treated with antibiotics.
Victorian premiere Jacinta Alan said she was “sick” from the allegations.
“My heart breaks for those families who are living the worst dreams of every parents,” he said.
The families of Victoria will be “angry and frightened” from the case, saying Alan said that a dedicated website has been set up for those people.
