Councilors of councilors said that Jhankar was part of the “character” of the region.
The owners of a hotel in Machynlleth, Powys have proposed to silence the city watch between midnight and 07:00 BST by the Town Council, which recently spent £ 55,000 to restore the 150 -year -old watch.
Huw Morgan, co-owner of Wynnstay Hotel, said she received regular complaints about the watch that chimes every fifteen minutes, saying that it was dissatisfied how the council had dealt with concerns.
The city council refused to comment.
Mr. Morgan said that the hotel was to take guests to other rooms due to complaints, he said it was a “proper request” to stop chimming during limited night hours.
He said, “The clock is very important for the city, a tourist attraction, and as a local I love the clock, but I believe it is a fair request to ask to silence the clock during the night,” he said.
“My feeling is that the council did not discuss or noticed the issue that it was needed.”
The time was standing in Machinleth until the restoration of the necessary restoration was completed by the Town Council last year, since the clock was mentioned for 150 years.
Mr. Morgan, who has been running a hotel with his partner Gayle Jenkins for the last 18 months, will now have to wait six months ago, before he is able to submit another proposal to the council.
“Moving forward, we have received many options including collecting opinions of people and businesses near the clock,” he said.
“However, from a legal point, noise pollution laws are usually used by residents instead of businesses so that it is an issue for us.”
The city council minutes indicated that concerns were discussed in a meeting in late July, during which councilors said that the clock chimming was part of the “character of the city”.
A local resident said it was “just background noise”.
He said, “I do not really notice it and filter it, but I appreciate that perhaps for those who are living here and who do not use it that it can stand out,” he said.
A visitor who visited the city with his family for the last 16 years said that he only realized that the clock was working again.
“I have seen this is [chiming] More often, but it does not happen much often. But we usually do not notice at night because we live outside the city, “he said.
Meanwhile, the owner of a property in the city said that he had never received complaints from his tenants.
He said, “I have got eight flats, which are facing the clock tower and no one complains, it is part of the city. But you cannot please all,” he said.
Over the years, several campaigns have been carried out by the local community to preserve and restore the city watch.
It was the people of Machinleth who originally raised funds to create a landmark with a landmark with the foundation laid in 1874, to celebrate the age of the eldest son of the fifth mark of Londondere, who lived in Y Plass in the city.
Machynlleth Town Council refused to comment on the issue.
