The Palestine Red Crisant Society (PRCS) has accused the Israeli forces of attacking their headquarters in Gaza Strip, killing one worker and three others injured.
The humanitarian organization said the attack “set the building on fire” in early Sunday.
Describing an overnight attack on the facility in the southern city of Khan Younis, as “deliberately”, PRCS said that its headquarters was “well known” and “clearly marked with protective red symbol”.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) told the BBC that it was reviewing the claim that a PRCS building was damaged and “as a result of the IDF strike, the people binned in the Khan Younis area were damaged”.
A video shared by the PRC on social media showed parts of the building on the fire and was filled with smoke, while later paintings showed heavy damage to the building and many large bloodshed.
In a statement, the aid agency stated that “immediately after midnight, the Israeli artillery hit the upper floors of the building directly”.
“As the PRCS teams were emptying the employees and inspecting the damage, the second floor was again killed, followed by the straight shelling of the ground, while the rescue teams were fighting the explosion caused by the bombing.”
The PRCS nominated the slain worker as Omar Icelem and said it was “heartbroken” on his death. It said that two other workers were injured, as well as a citizen who was trying to set fire. The agency stated that the building was “clearly marked” with its symbol.
“It was not a mistake,” PRCS said. “We renew our calls for accountability and for the safety of all humanitarian and medical personnel.”
