Hall of Famer and Chicago cub veteran Rhine Sandberg died after a long battle with cancer, MLB announced on Monday night.
Sandberg was 65 years old.
MLB wrote in a statement on social media, “We are very sad for the passage of Hall of Fame Rhine Sandberg.”

MLB’s statement continued, “On June 23, 2024, the 340th anniversary of its prestigious moment, the cub unveiled a statue of Sandberg.
Sandberg was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
